Whether or not the individual wants/needs the item would, I think, vary greatly.I work alone with a positve placement gun building decks and am critical about joist edges being flush.The clip allows focus on hanger placement when nailing.Another carpenter might be just as fast and accurate with a hammer or gun without taking the time to place and remove the clip.Some tradesmen feel strongly about there being such a thing as too many tools; this clip may be a prime example.

[When there is little clearance below the joist, the clip can be turned 180 degrees and pushed down over the hanger for easier removal.Such clip placement does block the hanger tabs (which I do not use when using a nail gun).]
